M.Y. Chock Dee Oriental Market: Your Gateway to Authentic Filipino Cuisine and International Delights

Besides being a market with so many wonderful and very well priced goods, I need to talk about the restaurant in the back. We've lived here for years and have always wanted to go here. Today we finally did and we're so glad we did. We went to the restaurant side and I believe it was one of the owner/managers saw we were trying to figure it out and he explained the combos and what all comes with the order. You get the meat, lots of rice and noodles with vegetables and lumpia for $11 which is A TON of food. Two orders of that (pepper steak and pork rib) with some lumpia (always get more lumpia) and fried chicken was more than enough to feed all five of us and some waters and was just over $42. We had to eat and go to handle some stuff at home, but we'll be back and often. Also got some of the bbq skewers to go...those didn't last long either.

First time going. The staff was so friendly and the food was top tier. Fresh, hot and generous portion size. I went to buy one item and discovered the food. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. Definitely going back!

Great experience as usual! I've been coming here since I was young. Usually to load up on Pocky lol when I was younger. Now and then I will come by and pick up some seasonings, snacks, fresh breads, and tea. Oh and the occasional drink. This location has a wonderful selection and even better desserts. I was hoping to buy some fresh mushrooms today and did not find any available. But never the less I got in and got out quickly and efficiently. I'm so grateful for this business. It's worth the few extra miles to come in and smell the delicious food.

Chockdee's is a great local market to visit if you need to restock your pantry with staple ingredients, get yummy sweet treats, salty snacks or indulge in their baked goods. Or maybe you and a friend need a quick bite for lunch/ dinner or need a party to be catered. There is a Filipino Restaurant on-site located towards the backside of the market. They consistantly offer these Filipino-Food-Fan-Favorites (...lumpia, pancit, garlic fried rice, fried chicken, fried pork chops, adobo, kare kare, sinigang, pepper steak, bok choy, eggplant,and lechon...) My whole family has been going here for many years. My daughter's favorite order is the pepper steak meal. I hope that you/ family/ friends give them a try!

​As a former Bostonian who recently moved to the San Marcos area, I’ve been on the hunt for a authentic "Mom and Pop" spot like the ones back home. M.Y. Chockdee is a total gem—it has that classic storefront vibe but with a fully dine-in seating area, which was a huge plus! ​Back in Boston, we have amazing Vietnamese, Laotian, Thai and Cambodian food, but I hadn't really tried Filipino cuisine until now. This place is incredible. On my first visit, I tried the pork belly, BBQ pork skewers, garlic fried rice, and pork egg rolls. Pro-Tip: When I got home, I put the pork belly in the broiler for a minute to extra-crisp the skin... OMG. The flavors are absolutely delicious. ​I’ve already been back twice in less than a week! Most recently, I brought my husband and we shared the fried chicken combo plate. The portions are huge, the prices are amazing, and the service makes you feel right at home. Do yourself a favor and try different things on the menu—you really can’t go wrong. Can't wait to go back this weekend!

We like going here at lunch if I'm craving Filipino food and I've got grab some Pan de sal for my coffee for Breakfast.

This place never disappoints. Everything is always good. Today I had the lumpia, pancit and pepper steak. highly recommend to anyone in the area.

It’s so conveniently close to work so I love this place for lunch. They have a great selection and I’ve yet to have anything I didn’t like. I’ve had the pepper steak and lechon and the portions are huge for the price. I came a little later for lunch and the lechon skin was still crunchy and the meat was tender. The store is also very good if you’re looking for Filipino-related things; pretty good selection for the size.
